Charles (Tim Key), an eccentric lottery winner, lives alone on a remote island and dreams of reuniting his favourite estranged folk duo (Tom Basden & Carey Mulligan). Both funny and melancholic, the film scores 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Marsden WAW is very grateful to ETC for their generous support.

> WALKS:

There will be a great choice of guided walks, stalls at the Mechanics Institute, and food and drink throughout the day.
All walks are free
But we are encouraging donations in the bucket, to join the walks: we are volunteer-run and have no funding other than what we can raise ourselves.

All walks start from the Mechanics Institute.

> OTHER ACTIVITIES

We also have a fantastic collaboration with We in Front, refreshments from the Scouts’ Kitchen, the Festival Market, Round Marsden Quiz and the Duck Race:

> EVENING GIGTHE BROTHERS GILLESPIE

And in the evening we are excited to host Northumbrian folk duo The Brothers Gillespie.

“Our music is inspired by the still wild soul of the land in which we live, a land alive with presences, not owned by anyone. It is about seeing with the eye of the heart and recovering our imaginations. It is about finding home, belonging and each other in a world which is singing to us as we sing to it.”

Below are both pages of our 2025 Walking Festival programme.
